Commissioning an artist is like adding a new face to the creative team. While we art directors think both visually and verbally, illustrators think visually and will always add a new dimension to a concept. While an art director might have have a couple of ideas for a visual, artists have that many more and the results are far better than many imagined solutions. The secret? Don’t treat them like a pair of hands, add their brain and you’ll always come out ahead.
